Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

So yesterday was Fat Tuesday and while we were not in the Big Easy celebrating I brought a little of New Orleans to Georgetown. I made beignets and they were amazing!!!! For those who don't know what they are they are a french doughnut. Cameron and I ate probably about 10 and then felt horrible all night but it was totally worth it.

Today is Ash Wednesday. Cameron, the boys and I will be going to church this evening at 5 to get our ashes. That should be interesting considering the boys are not great in church. Oh well, what can you do. Here are some pictures of past Ash Wednesdays.

And as for Lent, I decided to give up fast food and cussing. After Aiden was born I quit eating fast food and it was going so well! Since Asher has been born the convenince of it kept drawing me in. Now I usually eat it twice a week which I hate. So I am hoping after this 40 days I am back on the right track. As for the cussing...well I find myself throwing around a few words that I shouldn't a little too often. I don't want my boys going to school with a potty mouth so something has to be done about that! LOL! Cameron is giving up sweets, fast food and alcohol for Lent! I am so proud of him! He did that same thing last year and was great.

As for the rest of the day I am very excited to be going to a new playdate this morning. I found it on meetups.com and I am praying that we like it. We have joined 2 other playdates before but didn't really like either of them so I am hoping this one works out!

Why in the world...

Do my kids like to carry their shoes around in their mouth? What the heck! No wonder they have been sick so much this year! Yesterday when we were at the park both of them took their shoes off and were walking around with them in their mouth. Then today we were getting ready to go eat lunch out and Asher comes walking in with his shoes in his mouth! Gross!!!! I have told them a million times to quit but do you think that works...no! I guess boys will be boys...

Unexpected Surprise!

Don't you just love unexpected surprises on the weekends? Well I do! We had planned on today being pretty low key...go to church, clean house and do laundry and go watch Cam's softball practice. Nothing too exciting. Well my mom called this morning and said my Aunt Karen and Uncle Bubba (mom's twin brother) were in town and wanted to have brunch. When there is good food count me in! So after church the boys and I headed over to my parents to pick them up and head into Austin (Cameron couldn't go because of his practice). My aunt and uncle were staying at a friend's house by Lake Travis. This was the coolest house! It was very cozy and had a cottage feel. They had a huge deck that wrapped across of back of the house and had tons of doors that they kept open. It was really neat. The boys were in heavan walking around exploring. My dad, uncle and Aiden took about 20 nature walks and after each one Aiden would bring me back some treasures. They had a huge array of brunch type foods which were delicious! We stayed about 3 hours, ate, visited, drank a few yummy cocktails and then decided it was time to leave. I really regretted not taking my camera but I had no idea that this place would be so beautiful and that I would have so many picture opportunities.
Once we got back to Gtown, Cam's practice was almost over so the boys and I headed over to the fields to surprise him! He has alot of new members this year and we were in time to meet a few! I am so excited about his season starting back up and I hope they have a great team this year!
So a boring Sunday turned out to be so much fun! The best part was the boys were so tired from all the activity that they both went to sleep almost immediately at 7. Woo hoo! Now I'm off to watch the Amazing Race with my amazing hubby! Yeah that was pretty gay :)

Momma got some new clothes!

I went shopping this morning because I could not take another second of opening my closet to find nothing! I had a little extra cash I had been saving so off to Old Navy and TJ Max I went. Old Navy had so many cute spring clothes and great sales! woo hoo! And TJ Max has become one of my new favorite stores. They have some of the cutest tops ever! I ended up getting alot for my money and now feel like a new woman...an exhausted woman at that. Shopping with 2 toddler boys is a job but it was totally worth it!

A new schedule and new life!

LOL! I only say new life because it has been so long that we have all been well that I can almost not even remember what it's like! Last week as I started feeling better I knew that it was about time to get me and the boys back on a schedule. I know there are alot of moms out there who hate schedule but they really work for us. The boys thrive when they know what to expect and when. And needless to say it makes life alot easier for me when they are content. I have made schedules in the past but we never really stuck to them. This one I didn't make rigid at all...it's just a guideline on when to do things. The only strict parts are meal times and nap and bed time. I also fitted in 30 min in the morning to work on letters, spelling and writing and then 30 mins in the late afternoon to work on number and counting. Also to entertain them while I cook dinner they sit at the table and color. That has been a big hit! The best part of the schedule is that I made time for myself to work out for an hour everyday. I am not looking to lose any weight but I am in some major need of toning up. We are going to South Padre for Father's Day weekend so my goal is to be lookin good by then! That gives me plenty of time.

Anyway I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! Here are some random pictures that I have taken lately!

Aiden asked me to take a picture of him working on his computer.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentine's Day spending it with the ones they love. Our Valentine's started early. Yesterday around lunchtime I get a knock at the door. To my surprise instead of some crazy salesperson at the door I was greeted a man delivering flowers! Cameron and the boys had bought me gorgeous 18 multi-colored roses in a beautiful red vase along with a box of chocolates. I was so surprised and excited...especially about the chocolates! When Cam got home me and the boys gave him our Valentine's cards that we made and a box of chocolate caramels, his favorite. This morning the boys woke up in rather grumpy moods unfortunately. But their moods soon turned around when we gave them their Valentine's gifts. It was nothing big or anything but we got them little teddy bears and giant lollipops! They never get lollipops but love them so it was a big deal (as you can see from the pictures).

This afternoon we are heading into Austin to eat an early dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and walk around The Arboretum (a fancy shopping strip). Hopefully it won't be too cold so we can actually enjoy the afternoon!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Rainy Day!

So today we woke up to a rainy, cold morning. I actually kind of like rainy days because it gives you a great excuse to stay inside for the day. However we have to get out this morning since we are low on food and out of dog food. The good news is I bought the boys the cutest rain coats ever last week! Now they finally get a chance to wear them! Aiden is so excited and keeps asking if we can leave so he can wear it. Too bad they don't have any rainboats...now that would really be cute! I think while we are out we might pick up something really yummy for lunch, come home, eat, nap and then I might actually write out my thank you notes from Aiden's party. I'll take some pics of the boys in their jackets and post them later. I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

So sick of having a sick house!

My kids are NEVER sick! But for some reason this winter we have been sick at least 4 times already! Last week I lost my voice and had a cough...nothing too serious. But now my boys are coughing, have runny nose...a full on cold if not worse. The last 2 nights have been horrible! They are up all night because of their coughs. I just want everyone to be back to normal and I want spring to come! We never get sick in the spring or summer. I have had it with winter!!!!
I had to add this picture. First of all Asher has never fallen asleep on his own. Friday he was feeling pretty crummy and after dinner he went into Aiden's room. Barney was on the DVD in there so he sat in Aiden's chair and started watching it. I started cleaning the kitchen and about 15 minutes went by when I noticed how quiet he was being. I went in Aiden's room and this is what I found! He is so sweet! I just love this little man!

Aiden's Pirate Party!

Here are the pictures from Aiden's Pirate Party! We had it on Sunday...his actual birthday! We had such a great time and were blessed with beautiful weather! It was a small party but it was perfect. All the people that love Aiden were there and that's what counts!
Make sure the volume on your speakers is up! There is some very dramatic pirate music to go along with the scrap pages! Enjoy and Aargh Matey's!

I can't believe my little baby has turned into such a beautiful little boy. He is one of the sweetest kids you will ever meet. I look back at the past 3 years and they were the best ever and I can't wait for the many more we have to come!
